QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Much of the fun at last year’s Railings event came
from participants’ ingenuity in solving UNexpected
hanging probs – plus the generosity with which tips,
string, etc were shared. Here we try to deal with some
EXPECTED questions and problems!
1.CAN I PARTICIPATE SOLO – INDEPENDENT
OF AN ART GROUP?
Yes & No. Public Liability Insurance covers ONLY
named art groups. So,please come under the banner of
your own group/society OR take out temporary
membership of FAC for a month ( £2 (payable at least a
week before 29th )
2. CAN I SELL MY WORK?
Again, Yes & No! On the Leas Cliff Hall roof –
checkerboard – YES. But on the pavement it is red dotnow-
pay-later. Please draw your own conclusions!
3. WHAT IF IT RAINS ON THE DAY?
We’ll be there and give it an hour to clear up.
Mobile numbers will be busy! At the worst, all
postponed to the next Sunday, 6 July
4. WHAT ABOUT SHOWERS?
Last year people took plastic to cover the pictures –
either clear plastic sheeting or black plastic bags, taped
together. The idea was to fix the plastic to the back of the
railings ready to be swung over to the front if needed.
5. WHAT IF IT IS WINDY?
Lots of string….cable ties…butchers’ hooks……???
6. AND UNFRAMED PICTURES?
These need firm card backing with punched holes
for string (see illustration) – or maybe PEGBOARD?
7. CRAFT WORK ON THE CHECKERBOARD?
Lots of room for artwork, sculptures, installations
etc but please bring your own table!
