FAC at the Multi-Cultural Festival Launch

Tomorrow (Saturday 16th) the FAC will be running a 2 hour art and
story telling workshop for children and any help would be appreciated
to set up at 10am-ish. This is part of the Multi-Cultural Festival
2009 Press Launch. I have collected the blue gazebo from Mary today
and Yvonne and Jocelyn have volunteered to run the childrens workshop
but all extra help would be appreciated especially story telling.
many of the town top brass will be there and there is Nepalese food
snacks and the Whitstable Samba band to set the tone.The Festival will be over 4 days June 11th to 14th and the FAC
members have a great opportunity to exhibit art in a shop in
Rendezvous Street on the 13th. We will also be showing a Hendrix Woz
Here FAC documentary being video taped. There will also be a joint
FAC group members large chalk illustration entitled “Earthquake”.
Mikes idea of the illustration will show the pavement opening up and
looking through the centre of the earth to Sydney, Australia. There
will be children’ art workshop in the shop and outside on the 13th
and a childrens workshop on the 11th at Leas Cliff Hall. FAC
Musicians will playing on the stages of Sandgate Road and Guildhall
Street on the 13th.

The Festival organisers are looking for Stewards even for just a few
hours if anyone can spare any time. So if you fancy being part of
this in any small or big way over the Festival dates call Barbara
Witham on 01303 850522. Steward privilages include wearing an
official yellow bib and a free cup of tea and biscuit and I am told a
sandwich at lunchtime. 🙂

The Folkestone Art Society Spring Exhibition

The Folkestone Art Society Spring Exhibition opens on Thursday 14th May at The Grand on The Leas, Folkestone (www.grand-uk.com). Displaying the work of talented professional and amateur artists, the exhibition is open to the public from 10am each day and closes at 5pm, until Monday 25th May.
Entry is free, and refreshments are available from the hotel.

The exhibition is considered to be an important event in the arts calendar of the south-east and the Society’s previous exhibitions have drawn praise for the high standard of work exhibited. Visitors are asked to vote for their favourite work of art and prizes will be presented to the winning artists.
This Spring there is a new ‘Grand Competition’ for members. This competition will be on show in the Palm Court.
